The CLINCHER tong positioner system is a multi-purpose structure which functions as a tong shipping skid and is readily converted into a tong positioner. This system allows the tong operator to move heavy tong and backup systems from a stowed position onto the pipe in seconds. Using tong mounted valves, the operator controls horizontal and vertical position using two hydraulic cylinders. This system improves safety, reduces operator fatigue, and releases drill floor personnel for other duties and adapts to most rig floors without modification.
